We have purchased land and are putting up a building for our
seminarians in Indonesia. (We’ll need help
with that!) Fr Inosensius said, “It took three days for the Indonesian seminarians
and I to work to put all the materials to build our temporary home in
Maumere into the big dump truck to send it all by ferry from Surabaya to
Maumere. The dump truck finally went to Maumere on Monday night, April 13,
2015. It just arrived in Maumere this evening April 15, at 16.00. In
Maumere my brother in law Yoseph and Mary my sister arranged to receive the
load and to decide where it should be put down on the building site. Meanwhile
our seminarians in Maumere have begun to plant papaya trees in our land after
Mr Yoseph brought 100 papaya trees”.
After we have the temporary building made
of bamboo to use just one year, we hope to begin to construct a permanent
building. Plans are already on the drawing board. We don’t have a cost estimate
yet—working on that!
It was sad to move from good quarters that benefactors
loaned us for these several years. But now it will be a new day for our C.J.D.
community in Maumere. Thank
you, Surabaya for giving us a home for 3 years!#
Celebrate
From Indonesia, Fr Inosensius writes: “It is really a blessing of God
that on April 25, three of our brothers Ignatius, Hubertus, and David graduated with their
Bachelor of Philosophy degree which took place at the auditorium of the Major
Seminary of St Paul, in Ledalero [Maumere]. Graduation ceremony.#

Apostolate
Our seminarians in Indonesia have their apostolates to perform in addition to studies. Bro Johanes Marinus is studying at the St Paul Seminary in Maumere. He recently had an assignment to teach catechism at a distant chapel where the people almost never have mass. He enjoyed it, and so did they!#

Meet our Priest and Brothers
Meet our Priest and Brothers
Father Inosensius Hetu, C.J.D. is from Flores Island in Indonesia. He completed his seminary studies cum laude, with a major in Scripture and Development. He has taught Theology and had visited a number of orders before deciding that the Canons Regular of Jesus the Lord was the best fit.
Fr. Ino was ordained a priest on August 15, 2013 and now serves as the Superior for the Canons Regular of Jesus the Lord in Surabaya, Indonesia. He is currently speaking about vocations to young men throughout the region and telling them about our order. He is also working to attract seminarian sponsors in Indonesia and is overseeing the development of our community there.
Brother Augustinus Brusen, C.J.D. is from Maumere, Indonesia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Divine Providence Seminary. He began his year of novitiate in Vladivostok in May of 2013.
He has worked as a music teacher in a Catholic high school and is also an excellent choir director. In Vladivostok, he quickly became a popular soloist for community gatherings and he also sings in our choir. Br. Augustinus is very quiet and very likeable.
He speaks Indonesian and his English is excellent. After further studies and ordination, he may assist Fr. Ino with the recruitment and organization of additional Indonesian seminarians.
Brother Jacob Dambe, C.J.D. is from Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. He completed studies at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and has a degree in Philosophy. He also served as a catechist in parishes in Papua and Borneo.
Br. Jacob’s hobby is gardening. While he stayed with us in Vladivostok, he kept the grass trimmed around the church and monastery. He was a very hard worker and took an academic approach to his hobby. Quite often, the mornings found him standing outside, assessing the wind, the temperature, and the humidity and their effects on our outdoor plants.
Br. Jacob is a strong baritone and enjoyed signing in our choir. He is currently attending the seminary in Pontianak, Indonesia, and anticipates ordination in 2016.
Brother Yohanes Marinus, C.J.D. is currently our oldest novice. Originally from Maumere, Indonesia, he also lived in the Philippines for 2 years. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Br. Yohanes spent 5 years as the general administrator of a hotel business in Jakarta. His boss told him that, although it would be a sacrifice to lose him, he should return to the seminary. He also told Fr. Myron that it was obvious Yohanes had a religious vocation, and that he should be a priest.
Br. Yohanes is a good organizer and his English is excellent. Fr. Dan comments that everyone likes him and he’s the “best PR man in the world.” He is great at soccer and has helped organize kids’ soccer teams at the orphanage. He is good at noticing what needs to be done and quietly taking care of it.
Br. Yohanes will soon finish his studies at St. Paul’s Seminary in Maumere Diocese, Indonesia, and will be ordained shortly thereafter.
Brother Ignatius Rino, C.J.D. is from Jakarta, Indonesia, and has studied Philosophy at the Divine Word Seminary in Maumere.
He says that as a child, he first considered a vocation to the priesthood when he was unexpectedly given Holy Communion from the Cup. He formerly worked with the Passionist order, but now is planning his future with the Canons Regular of Jesus the Lord. Br. Ignatius plays the piano and keyboard. Coming from Indonesia, Br. Ignatius has many Catholic and Muslim relatives.
He enjoys sports and music and hopes to one day evangelize through the use of music. He recently received his B.A. in Philosophy in Maumere, Indonesia, so now is continuing in the seminary’s Theology Program.
